Shelby Varner began working in higher education and athletics at Florida State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Educational Learning Systems and Sport Psychology. Upon graduating in 2018, she started an internship with the University of Miami, as an Assistant Athletic Advisor for Olympic Sports. Shelby moved to Atlanta in August 2019 to begin her role as Academic Coordinator with the Georgia Tech Athletic Association. She currently supports the Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Men’s Golf teams. Shelby assists student-athletes in degree planning, maintaining academic eligibility, time management, organization, and study skills.
What inspired you to become a Leadership Fellow?:
Shelby is passionate about supporting those around her and assisting others in unveiling their leadership skills. As a strong believer in growth mindset and the power of grit, Shelby encourages others to learn from mistakes, fall in love with a challenge, and enjoy the process of lifelong learning.
